Configure an e-mail account for Microsoft Outlook:

Step 1: Open Microsoft Outlook

Step 2: Go to E-mail account configuration

2a. Click on the "Tools" from the File Toolbar.

2b. Select "E-mail Accounts..." under "Tools".

2c. For adding a new e-mail account, go to step 3.
      For changing an existing e-mail account, go to step 4.

Step 3: Add a new E-mail account

3a. Choose "Add a new e-mail account".

3b. Click "Next>" to go to the next screen.

3c. Choose "POP3" type of account.

3d. Click "Next>" to go to step 5.

Step 4: Change an existing E-mail account

4a. Choose "View of change existing e-mail accounts".

4b. Highlight the name of the account to be changed in the E-mail Accounts window. 

4c. Click "Change..." to go to step 5.

Step 5: Configure the account

5a. Enter the information for the following areas:

User Information
Your name:  The name as you want it to appear on the email messages
E-mail:        The email address to be used as the reply-to address for the email messages.

Logon Information
User Name: Your E-mail Address
Note: User Name is actually your e-mail address.  E-mail address is in the format of  AccountName@DomainName.
          For example, jsmith@nexussystems.net
Password:    Enter your password in here.

Server Information
Incoming mail server (POP3):    For business clients, enter "pop3.nexussystems.net"
                                                    For school clients, enter "pop3.nls.k12.la.us"
Outgoing mail server (SMTP):    For business clients, enter "smtp.nexussystems.net"
                                                    For school clients, enter "smtp.nls.k12.la.us"

If the Outlook e-mail client that you configure is located within our network,  once all the above required minimum information are entered, you may click on "Next>" and then "Finish" to save all the changes to exit.

However if you want to configure additional security features, click "More Settings..." to go to step 6.

Step 6: Configure additional security features

6a. The above "Internet E-mail Settings" window provide additional features.

Step 7: Enable the incoming messages to be secured from the mail server (optional)

7a. Click the "Advanced" tab from the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.

7b. Under Incoming server, click on the box to select "This server require a secure connection(SSL)", the POP3 port will automatically change to 995.

7c. Under Outgoing server, confirm the box "This server require a secure connection" is NOT selected.

Note:  It is strongly recommended to enable this feature especially the Outlook e-mail client is located at home or other places that are outside our networks.
Once the secure connection is enabled between the client and the server, the account name, password, and the receiving mail messages will be secured and encrypted.  

If you enable this secure connection (SSL) feature, please also install the CA root certificate of Nexus Systems.

7d. Click "OK" to save all the change and then click "Finish" if you want to exit.

Step 8: Enable SMTP Authentication (optional)

8a. Click the "Outgoing Server" tab from the "Internet E-mail Settings" window.

8b. Click on the box to select "My outgoing server (SMTP) require authentication".

8c. Click on the box to select "Use same settings as my incoming mail server".

Note:  If the Outlook e-mail client is located at home or other places that are outside our networks, you have to enable this feature to allow the outgoing mails to be able to be sent through our mail server.

8d. Click "OK" to save all the change and then click "Finish" if you want to exit.
